<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 14, 1986 <br /> <br />Sinda had nothing further to add to the staff report concerning <br />and agreement with Government Training Service for the Team <br />Building/Strategic Planning workshop on January 31-February 1, <br />1986. <br /> <br />~1otion by Gunderman, seconded by Schmidt, to AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR <br />AND THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH THE GOVERNMENT <br />TRAINING SERVICE TO PROVIDE M GOAL SETTING/STRATEGIC PLANNING <br />PROGRAM FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,775.00 PLUS EXPENSES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Schmidt announced that the Ramsey County League of Local Govern- <br />ments will meet tomorrow evening, January 15, 1986, at 7:30 p.m. <br />in Little Canada's City Hall, the subject being the Consolidation <br />of Courts, and Hank Sinda will be making a presentation. <br /> <br />Benke announced the public information meeting, also tomorrow <br />evening, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on the <br />sound barriers along 1-694 here at City Hall. <br /> <br />Benke announced a worksession for new councilmembers, presented <br />by Don Salverda, and Sinda announced the Government Training <br />Service's workshop for newly elected officials on Saturday, <br />January 25, 1986, at the Sheraton Midway and preconference <br />seminars on Friday, January 24, 1986, for veterans. Those <br />planning to attend the conferences should advise the Adminis- <br />trative Secretary for reservations. <br /> <br />Benke reminded everyone Senator Boschwitz will speak to the joint <br />chambers, Fridley and New Srighton, on Friday, January 17, 1986. <br /> <br />Benke stated the development of the Old Highway 8 corridor would <br />be a priority item over the next few years and suggested the <br />council be updated on the status of the studies that are being/ <br />have been done on that area; asked that the information be made <br />available prior to the Team Building workshop January 31, 1986; <br />Sinda stated someone would be at the next meeting to update <br />council on the study. <br /> <br />Schmidt had asked John Vinton and Barbara Arney, Government Training <br />Service, that staff present the tough issues that the councilmembers <br />are going to have to face over the next couple of years. The Old <br />Highway 8 corridor study would be a part of that information, but <br />we also need to look at infrastructure.
