<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I):,." <br /> <br />, - <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 26, 1985 <br /> <br />Page Seven <br /> <br />Proper stated the estimated cost for the project would be $955,000 and <br />that he will continue working with Doug Day, Minnesota Pollution Control <br />Agency, regarding superfund monies and suggested the project be approved <br />due to the apparent increasing contamination of Well #7. <br /> <br />Proper mentioned, also, that two acres of property may be available across <br />the street from the Park and that Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation <br />Director, is looking into the possibility of the city obtaining that <br />property. <br /> <br />Benke suggested we pursue the purchase of the site near Hidden Oaks and <br />check to see if the cost of the land could be included in the contamina- <br />tion, and asked if our payment for Creek View property was, or could be, <br />included in the lawsuit. <br /> <br />City Attorney will check the lawsuit files to determine whether or not <br />the purchase of the site was included in the suit documents. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Janecek, to (1) REVIEW AND ACCEPT THE FEASI- <br />BILITY STUDY AND ORDER THE PROJECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW WELL <br />(CITY WELL #13) AND IRON REMOVAL FACILITY (AT WELL HOUSE #11), (2) TO <br />AUTHORIZE THE INITIATION OF A BOND SALE FOR PROJECT FINANCING, AND (3) <br />TO AUTHORIZE THE NEGOTIATIONS OF AN AGREEMENT WITH RIEKE CARROL MUELLER <br />& ASSOCIATES FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR PARTS OF THE PROJECT. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Benke stated that because he had not had an opportunity to talk with 1986 Council <br />Councilmember Schmidt and because Councilmember-Elect Brandt would be out Organization <br />of town the first few days of 1986, he moved, seconded by Janecek, to: <br /> <br />CALL A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF THE NEW COUNCIL ON JANUARY 7, 1986, <br />AT 7:00 P.M. TO HEAR PRESENTATIONS FROM COUNCILMEMBER APPLICANTS AND <br />TO SUBSEQUENTLY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO THE VACANCY, AND THEN TO <br />ADJOURN FROM THE SPECIAL MEETING TO A WORKSHOP TO CONSIDER APPLICANTS <br />FOR THE VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, AND ANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONAL <br />WORK THAT COULD BE DONE PRIOR TO THE FIRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE NEW <br />COUNCIL; <br />HOLD A PRELIMINARY WORKSESSION ON JANUARY 6, 1986, IF A LARGE NUMBER <br />OF APPLICANTS FOR THE COUNCIL VACANCY ARE RECEIVED, TO HEAR FROM THE <br />APPLICANTS; <br />DIRECT STAFF TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE PRESS TO INSURE THE PEOPLE OF <br />NEW BRIGHTON ARE AWARE OF THE PROCESS FOR FILLING THE COUNCIL VACANCY <br />AND TO ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS, IN THE ABSENCE OF A FORMAL APPLICATION, <br />TO SUBMIT A RESUME AND/OR LETTER OF INTENT STATING THEIR QUALIFICA- <br />ATIONS, THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS BEING DECEMBER 19, 1985; AND <br />DIRECT STAFF TO PUBLISH THE VACANCIES FOR COMMISSIONS/BOARDS; <br />APPLICATIONS TO BE RECEIVED IN CITY HALL BY 4:00 P.M., JANUARY 3, <br />1986, WITH APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE ON JANUARY 14, 1986. <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br />
