<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 24, 1985 <br /> <br />Mark Matthews, General Manager of GrouD W Cable of the North Sub- <br />urbs, Inc., updated the council on the new personnel in the Mar- <br />keting division and reviewed the new marketing program in which <br />every household will be contacted three times between now and <br />December through telephone, mailer, and direct sales representa- <br />tive. <br /> <br />In response to Harcus's question, Matthews felt Group W1s new <br />rate would not be an obstacle to the penetration of cable in New <br />Brighton. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION NOT TO OPPOSE AN INCREASE IN BASIC CABLE TELE- <br />VISION SERVICE RATES BY GROUP W CABLE OF THE NORTH SUBURBS, INC. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Matthews invited the councilmembers to tour Group W's facilities <br />in Roseville; encouraged them to set a date within the next three <br />to four months. <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist, to ADVERTISE THE <br />VACANCY ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AT THE END OF THE YEAR <br />ALONG WITH ALL OTHER VACANCIES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Harcus, to WAIVE THE RULES AND <br />ALLOW THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION FOR THE SQUASH FESTIVAL TO BE <br />ADDED TO THE AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 tlayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist, to WAIVE THE READING <br />AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION FOR THE SQUASH FESTIVAL, SPONSORED BY <br />THE NEW BRIGHTON LIONS CLUB, A CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON CIVIC CELE- <br />BRATION. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Harcus announced that, effective in early October, he will be <br />employed at Twin City Federal. <br /> <br />Sinda advised council of Ramsey County's intention to es- <br />tab 1 i sh a fi ve-memberAdvi sory Board to determi ne pol i cy for <br />distribution of the CDBG monies; felt it would be in this City's <br />interest to try to have someone from New Brighton on that board; <br />and advised the name of our nominee needs to be to Ramsey County <br />by October 15, 1985. Harcus suggested Proper; Blomquist felt <br />our nominee should not be a staff person; and Schmidt suggested <br />either Blomquist or Janecek, neither of whom have filed for <br />re-election in November.
