<br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 26, 1986 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Schmidt noted he had been asked to serve on the Commission and he <br />had declined due to his prior time commitments; Benke stated that <br />although he is not on the Commission he intends to work closely <br />with the group. <br /> <br />Proper had nothing to the staff report concerning the specifica- <br />tions for the purchase of a new loader/backhoe for the Public <br />Works Department. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Gunderman, to APPROVE THE SPECI- <br />FICATION AND AUTHORIZE THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR A NEW <br />TRACTOR LOADER/BACKHOE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Proper had no comment to the proposed resolution approving the <br />vacation of a portion of Third Avenue N.W.; Benke stated this <br />was formalizing the action taken at the last council meeting <br />(August 26, 1986). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Per Gunderman's request, prior to action by council, each coun- <br />cilmember was provided with and reviewed a copy of an article <br />written by Father Grieman, st. John the Baptist Church, concern- <br />ing the vacation of Third Avenue N.W. between Eighth and Ninth <br />Streets N.W. <br /> <br />Benke stated he has read it and is not prepared to respond. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE VACATION OF A PART OF THIRD <br />AVENUE N.W. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 1 Naye (Brandt), Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Benke reported on the MPCA Board meeting today at which the <br />Board voted (6-2) to approve the staff's recommendation for <br />additional quantity and quality of testing being conducted <br />by Honeywell and the Army; Benke felt it was a significant <br />step and felt the discussions with the Board and the staff <br />were worthwhile. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Benke noted councilmembers had received information on the <br />Vento/Sabo/Durenberger legislation on the appropriations bill <br />which says the Army is supposed to give us our money. <br /> <br />Page Twelve <br /> <br />Specification Appro- <br />val: Loader/ <br /> <br />Vacation of a Part of <br />Third Avenue N.W. <br />Resolution 86-88 <br /> <br />Announcements <br />and Updates <br /> <br />MPCA Board's vote <br />for Fourth <br />Amended RFRA <br />
