I

Council Meeting Minutes
August 26, 1986

Council Business, continued

Schmidt recalled, the LITMANCOM discussed timing of sending our
response back to the Army; and we were looking at a process of
further congressional and senatorial lobbying efforts that we
would make; and then, if necessary, the city would go back and
try to meet with those in Washington in terms of getting the
Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency
together to resolve ~he situation.

Sinda felt the lobbying should be delayed until after the first
of October after the decision on the superfund bill has been
made; then we can sit down and see what it means.

John Drawz, attorney, had suggested to Benke that LITMANCOM meet
again the first week in October.

Schmidt noted the North Suburban Cable Commission will be having
a worksession on Wednesday, September 3, 1986, regarding the
application for transfer of Group W's franchise to a consortium,
North Central Communication (Hauser and Continental).

I

Schmidt advised councilmembers that a public meeting has been
scheduled for September 18, 1986, on that application; six systems
are involved; some systems are contemplating denial of the appli-
cation and some are contemplating exercising their authorization
of a municipal purchase. Schmidt stated the Commission had not
authorized any legal or financial consultants to consider the
municipal ownership option; suspects it will be raised at, or
prior to, the meeting September 3rd whether in fact the north sub-
urbs would consider having it put together; Miller & Schroeder has
been looking at whether or not it would be a feasible alternative
for other cities (not the north suburbs).

Council reviewed the Y.E.S. letter they received in their packet.

Administrative Secretary announced that the next council meeting
is September 9, 1986, the day of the Primary Election; therefore,
the meeting would either have to begin at 8:00 p.m. or be re-
scheduled.

Councilmembers agreed to begin the September 9, 1986, meeting at
8:00 p.m.

I

Sinda called an Executive Session following this meeting to dis-
cuss a legal matter.

Benke noted he had received a telephone complaint regarding the
weeds, the need for grading and cleanup of the development
property on Tenth Street N.W.

Page Thirteen

LITMANCOM Update

Cable Commission
Update

Y.E.S.
