In response to Brandt's question, Benke felt the
restriction of "one issue" was carried over from the previous
sign ordinance; Schmidt recalled the concept for having a specific
period of time was to both give the public an opportunity to bene-
fit in the democratic process and to minimize the clutter and not
having signs allover the city for two or three months.

Benke stated the council may be receiving a petition or a request
to change/review the ordinance; and asked Locke to review it to
see if there should be any changes.

Williams stated he has a problem with the large signs being up
for three months and understands the disadvantage to having to
remove and replace signs; Benke also stated it is a disadvantage
to maintaining them for a long period of time.

I

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Gunderman, to ADJOURN THE
MEETING.

Adjournment
5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried
The meeting was adjourned at 10:02 p.m.

R~

Clerk

I

(SEAL

Page Fourteen

Sign Ordinance:
Campaign Signs

Adjournment
