<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 22, 1986 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />As far as qualifying the organization, LeFevere did not know what <br />all of the tax problems associated with that might be, and that <br />consideration ought to go into the planning process (seeking con- <br />tributions). <br /> <br />In response to Sinda's request for staff direction, Benke felt a <br />need to develop some concrete proposals and specific recommenda- <br />tions for consideration and action with an update report and <br />action decisions made at the next council meeting, with a target <br />of creation formulation at the second meeting in August with <br />staff, Benke, and Brandt developing a statement of charges for <br />the organization. <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Berger announced he and Krueger attended the Ramsey County <br />League of Local Governments last Wednesday and both expressed <br />concern that both New Brighton and Mounds View were left out of <br />the Metro plan for development. <br /> <br />Benke stated the rationale was that New Brighton and Mounds View <br />are west of 35W, with probably more interest and attraction <br />toward Minneapolis; the consequence to us and other northern <br />suburbs is that we are kind of on the fringe of that group also <br />with geography and that we (New Brighton, Mounds View, Arden <br />Hills, and Roseville) maybe should be focusing our interests on <br />our own group, but feels we should continue to monitor and <br />participate in both groups. <br /> <br />Benke further stated that he will be working with Sinda, Locke, <br />Paul Fournier and Jim Faust to promote New Brighton in a broader <br />area. <br /> <br />Sinda noted staff has been working on the <br />1987 budget and, because some issues have <br />be shared before staff goes any further. <br />workshop on Monday, August 11th. <br /> <br />Five-Year Plan and <br />emerged, ideas should <br />Council agreed to a <br /> <br />Benke reminded councilmembers of the City Hall picnic on Tuesday, <br />August 5, 1986, at Hansen Park. <br /> <br />Page Sixteen <br /> <br />Announcements and <br />Updates <br /> <br />RCLLG Meeting <br /> <br />Budget Workshop <br />August 11, 1986 <br /> <br />Picnic - Aug. 5th <br />
