Council Meeting Minutes July 9,1985 I Sinda stated that the 1984 audit report from Voto, Reardon, Tautges & Co., Ltd. had been distributed to the council and that Bob Voto would like to come and address the council. Benke suggested at the end of the agenda on July 23rd~ Blomquist stated that that agenda may be a 10na one, following the Planning Commis- sion's meeting on the 16th. Sinda advised council that on the July 23rd agenda there would be an item regarding a Community Development Block Grant through Ramsey County stating that, because Ramsey County now has a popu- lation just over 200,000 (not including St. Paul proper) it would be eligible for S2-$3 million per year as long as the block grant dollars were there. Blomauist stated that all cities in Ramsey County must support the aoplication so, if councilmembers had any contacts in other municipalities, the council should encourage them to support the application for the funds. Benke asked staff to let council know if they hear of any municipality that is a~ainst it. Blomquist stated the RCLLG has adopted a resolution in support of it and is trying to facilitate some discussions; at the last Board meeting, there were no communities identified as being opposed to the application. I Sinda advised councilmembers that he had met with the Parks and Public Works Committee of the County Board last Monday, July 8th, to discuss long Lake Reqional Park and it was determined at the meeting that it would be appropriate for the County Board, the New Brighton City Council, and the New Brighton Park Board to tour the Park. A date has not yet been set, Harcus believes we have a water surface problem, Benke stated counci1members would be receiving a notice from the AMM seeking volunteers to serve on a committee. Benke encouraged the counci1members to apply and to call the AMM staff with their committee preference. Benke noted the sessions will start in September and will be completed before Christmas.
