<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 9,1985 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Benke asked staff if they had had a chance to talk to the school <br />personnel. Proper stated he had discussed it with Maurie <br />Anderson. New Brighton's Park and Recreation Director. and as <br />Proper had not heard back from Anderson. Proper stated it would <br />be brought up at the July 11. 1985 staff meeting and would be <br />recorded in those minutes, <br /> <br />Janecek commented that staff did a good job on drawing up the <br />resolution to cover all the reasons for the action taken in <br />this unique situation. <br /> <br />Harcus advised the residents in attendance the signs would be <br />up tomorrow. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus. seconded by Blomquist. to WAIVE THE READING. <br />HOLD THE SECOND READING. AND ADOPT AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT TO <br />INCLUDE A BUILT-IN FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM IN NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />AND ADDITIONS TO OLD STRUCTURES AND TO ORDER PUBLICATION OF <br />THE ORDINANCE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Harcus announced that on August 13, 1985 there would be a <br />"National Night Out" for the Crime Watch program and that he <br />would be signing a proclamation to that effect. <br /> <br />Harcus received a letter from the Liberty Torch Relay Associa- <br />tion which is raising funds for the rehabilitation of the <br />Statue of Liberty, Harcus stated they will be coming through <br />New Brighton on approximately September 17th. selling T-Shirts <br />to raise money and taking pledges for running or walking ($2 <br />for 100 yards, $20 for one mile). The Association would like <br />a New Brighton group to help coordinate and sponsor the event <br />in New Brighton. Benke suggested asking the Jaycees and the <br />council concurred. Benke and Janecek felt the senior groups <br />should also be contacted. <br /> <br />Harcus announced he and Sinda would be attending Stockyard Days. <br />lnc, IS meeting on Monday. July 15th, at 8:00 p,m, at the Eagles <br />Club to present Certificates of Commendation to the board and <br />chairpersons in recognition of the 1985 event and invited the <br />council, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Schmidt asked Administrative Secretary to list council-related <br />items (Team Building, Workshops, etc,) on Channel 10; Janecek <br />asked that additional items be listed in the weekly Newsletter <br />to Counci 1. <br /> <br />Blomquist announced the Ramsey County League of Local Governments <br />is having their annual picnic next week, July 17th, which would <br />be a tour of elderly housing facilities (St, Anthony, Palmer <br />Drive, Roseville, and Maplewood) following the picnic.
