Council Meeting Minutes
July 9.1985

I

Janecek asked if the city could notify the businesses that all the
residents deal with, for example Northern State Power. Northwestern
Bell. etc., of the change.

David Hoel, 2738 - 17A Street N.W.. asked for clarification of the
final decision and Harcus stated the council had decided to drop
"A Street" and add "Terrace."

Bauer stated that once the ordinance is passed, he would make the
changes on the Fire DeDartment's records and train the volunteer
firefighters accordingly.

In response to Harcus' question of timing, Hoel recommended the
change be prior to fall because many lists (schools, programs.
etc.) are made up after school begins and stated the signs could
be changed more comfortably in warm weather.

In response to Janecek's question concerning the physical changing
of the street signs, Proper indicated it could be done very quickly.

I

Motion by Benke, seconded by Janecek, to WAIVE THE READING, HOLD
THE FIRST READING, TO HOLD THE SECOND READING ON JULY 23, 1985, OF
AN ORDINANCE CHANGING "A STREETS" TO "TERRACES" AND TO DIRECT STAFF
TO PROCEED FORTHWITH.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried

Bob Strobel, developer of the Stony Lake Townhomes on 14A Street,
stated that because the development is geographically identified
with the lake and because it reflects the wishes of occupants of
his townhomes. he asked the council to consider "Stony Lake
Terrace" for the street within his new development; believes the
fire. police. and ambulance company knows the location of Stony Lake.

Harcus and Janecek believed it may open up many similar requests
and felt it necessary to deny Strobel's request; the rei:laining
councilmembers concurred.

I

Harcus stated that the council is reacting to a unique problem of
"A" streets and that council feels this ordinance action will con-
trol the problem of petitions for street name changes.

Motion by Harcus. seconded by Blomquist. to WAIVE THE READING
AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE INSTALLATION OF "RESIDENT
ONL Y PARKING" SIGNS ON THE PORTION OF 25TH STREET N, ~j.
