Sinda explained the Building
Committee had suggested incorporating the ampitheater concept
into the plan. although there was not a dollar commitment.

Benke saw no need to do a lot of detail considerations at this
time and stated the concept plan for the park is a good one.

Schmidt agreed with Benke and stated when more developments
occur in the area, the council's consideration of greater de-
velopments of the park may be spurred. Schmidt also felt no
need to see any further detail at this time.

Blomquist stated he would favor the ampitheater addition to
the City Hall plan if it would be cost-effective, as it would
add a lot to the building and it would be.a nice tie-in to the
park.

Benke asked what was budgeted. as it would be a question of
"when" it is done, not "if." Benke felt staff should check
\'Iith the Park Board to see if it wanted to modify the CIP to
have the ampitheater constructed along with the addition to
City Ha 11 .

Schmidt felt it should be done simultaneously if it would be
cost-effective.

Harcus felt as St. John's school is the primary user of the
park. playground equipment should be considered in the future
when the park itself is being planned.

Blomquist asked if it would be possible to proceed with the
park plans and then, because questions would relate to fi-
nancing, bid it as a separate detachable package. Council
concurred.

Announcements

Announcements

Sinda announced there would be a public meeting on Tuesday,
July 30th, at 7:30 p.m. regarding the "Resident Only Parking"
signs near Irondale and invited councilmembers to attend.

Public Meeting
- Resident
Only Parking

Sinda announced the Metropolitan Council will be holding a
public hearing on July 24, 1985, at 7:00 p.m. in our Council
Chambers on the EAW for the burning.

Burning - Public
Hearing

Benke announced the National League of Cities will be meet-
ing in Seattle in December. Benke would volunteer to attend;
reservations should be made soon because hotel space gets
taken early. Because the budget allows for one trip annually,
Benke asked councilmembers to consider a second trip at the
next council meeting on August ]3, 1985.

NLC December
Meeting in
Seattle
