Interconnects to other cities having lower
water pressure than ours (Columbia Heights and Mounds View)
provide very little water to New Brighton, thereby not
adequately serving our City.

Benke stated that when we need the water most urgently would
be when adjacent communities would need the water urgently,
also (during disasters, etc.). The purchase of a portable
generator would be buying an insurance policy for the worst
case situation.

Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist, to AWARD THE BID
FOR A PORTABLE GENERATOR FOR THE CITY WATER DEPARTMENT TO
THE LOWEST BIDDER MEETING SPECIFICATION, ZIEGLER CORPORATION,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,295.00.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Special Order of Business

Jim Winkels reviewed staff report concerning the establish-
ment of the New Brighton Economic Development Organization.

Schmidt indicated a certain number of councilmembers should
also serve. Schmidt, Blomquist and Harcus volunteered.

Benke asked if the council members would be full-fledged
members, or ex-officio members.

Winkels indicated it is common in other cities to have
councilmembers have full voting powers.

Page Two

Reapportionment
Resolution 84-135

Reapportionment
Resolution 84-136

Rosevi11e's speed-
skati ng facil ity
Report 84-250
Resolution 84-137

Tennis Courts -
Hansen Park
Report 84-252

Portable Generator
Report 84-251

Speci a 1 Order of
Business

Economic Development
Organization
Report 84-253
Resolution 84-138
