<br />Counci 1 Mi nutes <br />November 27, 1984 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Schmidt stated they would have to get to the use question <br />before they could make a recommendation as to the zoning. <br /> <br />Benke said he is thinking that whatever recommendation for <br />use or zoning will have problems associated with it; would <br />like to have problems identified and what we have to do to <br />mitigate those problems; what it will cost us. <br /> <br />Schmidt concurred. <br /> <br />Motion amended by Benke, Schmidt concurred, to add HAVE THE <br />RECOMMENDATION ADDRESS PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE <br />OR ZONING, WHAT THE CITY NEEDS TO DO TO MITIGATE THOSE <br />PROBLEMS, AND WHAT REMEDIAL COSTS ARE INVOLVED. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried as Amended <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />With respect to downtown, Benke suggested a letter be written <br />by Sinda and sent to MN/DOT to get the action started. <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Harcus, to AUTHORIZE THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO SEND A LETTER TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION (MN/DOT) REQUESTING MN/DOT TO COMPLETE <br />A TRANSPORTATION STUDY OF THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM <br />IN THE VICINITY OF 1-694 AND 1-35W. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Winkels mentioned that no department had anything that <br />had to go on the second meeting in December's agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Schmidt to CANCEL THE SECOND <br />MEETING IN DECEMBER, 1984. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was determined that if anything should come up, a <br />special meeting for the purpose would be called. <br /> <br />Winkels asked council if it would be willing to authorize <br />a $5,000 expenditure to update the study for the land <br />north of Tenth Street and east of Fifth Avenue as, in a <br />discussion with the representatives and the City Manager, <br />the representatives understood the city would pay for the <br />study. (Note: City Manager not present tonight.) <br /> <br />Winkels explained that they are willing to add that cost <br />onto the land purchase cost. <br /> <br />Harcus stated if the council approved the expenditure, we <br />would want reimbursement if the proposal is dropped. <br /> <br />Winkels responded they should pay for it; they are used to <br />having things done for them. <br /> <br />Page Nine <br /> <br />Second Meeting <br />in December, 1984 <br /> <br />Hotel Site <br />
