<br />Council Minutes <br />December 17, 1984 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Proper had nothing further to add to the staff report con- <br />cerning the authorizing the use of Municipal State Aid <br />Street Funds for sidewalk approaches to Long Lake Road Bridge. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist, to ADOPT A RESOLUTION <br />APPROPRIATING MUNICIPAL STATE AID FUNDS FOR SIDEWALK APPROACHES <br />TO LONG LAKE ROAD C.S.A.H. PROJECT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Harcus stated he received District 9 MN/DOT 25-Year Plan, <br />will send to Proper. <br /> <br />Schmiqt felt we should have some sort of update as to what <br />would happen in the event of a catastrophe (ie, chemical waste <br />problems). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Harcus noted that Minneapolis has an ordinance requiring <br />industries to have a permit from the MPCA, and to disclose <br />the nature of their chemicals prior to their being used. <br />Suggested New Brighton look at Minneapolis' ordinance and <br />refer this to the Citizen Study Committee or the Fire Depart- <br />ment. <br /> <br />Benke stated we might want to do something like this on a <br />joint basis with the surrounding communities. <br /> <br />Schmidt feels the entire safety and hazard issue is something <br />staff should look into. <br /> <br />Blomquist asked what the level of training is that our people <br />have had, and if they should have more. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Benke asked Manager, on behalf of council, to recognize our <br />Fire Department and our Police Department for their excellent <br />performance during the Williams pipeline burst. <br /> <br />Schmidt concurred and felt the Fire Chief deserves a great <br />deal of recognition for his quick and good decisions. <br /> <br />Blomquist announced the Ramsey County League of Local Govern- <br />ments' Holiday Banquet this Wednesday, December 19, 1985. <br /> <br />It was announced that the Planning Commission is having their <br />Christmas Party at Brandywine following tomorrow night's <br />regular meeting. <br /> <br />Winkels announced that Ark Housing will be at the January 8th <br />City Council meeting to go through their entire package and <br />to talk about the next step. <br /> <br />Page Seven <br /> <br />Sidewalk Approaches <br />to Long Lake Road <br />B ri dge <br />Report 84-337 <br />Resolution 84-180 <br /> <br />Announcements <br /> <br />MN/DOT 25-Year Plan <br /> <br />RCLLG <br /> <br />Planning Commission <br />
