I

I

I

Council Minutes
January 8, 1985

Motion by Harcus, seconded by Blomquist, to AMEND THE MOTION
TO ADD TO THE NAMING RESOLUTION PARAGRAPH C7 STATING:

NO STREET SHALL HAVE THE SAME NAME OR NUMBER WITH AN
EXTENSION, SUCH AS "A" OR "!z.1I

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion to Amend Carried

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke, to AMEND THE MOTION
TO EXCLUDE FROM THE RENAMING RESOLUTION THE WORDS "RESOLUTION
ORII FROM PARAGRAPH D.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion to Amend Carried

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Main Motion Carried as Twice Amended

Janecek asked that iO Paraqraph C2 of the Naming Resolution
"(north/south)" be moved to come before "West" and "East."
Thompson concurred that the request was sound.

Harcus stated that this was taken care of above.

Krueger distributed a report from ~!in r'litchell, which com-
pared his appraisal with the twc appraisals Mr. Hedlund had
had done; stated Win Mitchell 's letter reflects confidence
that his appraisal includes factors that weren't taken in-
to c,onsideration by the other two appraisals.

Blomquist questioned Points 6 and 7 of the report; Krueger
responded she hadn't had a chance to discuss the report
with Win Mitchell since she received the report today.

Harcus stated the real question is "does it make sense to
swap land and allow another house to be put in there?"
Harcus questioned whether a nice house could fit in and
still maintain access for both properties; concerned with
floodplain question and generating tax dollars. Would
support tabling until such time as the floodplain question
is resolved and the applicant can demonstrate that two
quality houses could be built on the property.

Schmidt commented that he sees very little tax base or
advantage to the city and would be willing to deny the re-
quest based on staff recommendation. He further stated he
could see keeping it open only if there is some reason to
believe that there is going to be some significant informa-
tion developed to change his mind.

Blomquist expressed concern about an acceptable house being
built on a lot that would be graded; floodplain question
needs to be answered; we need to look through the process
and convince ourselves that we would be willing to accept
a house on the lot that would be substandard width.

Page Nine

"A" Street Name
Changes
Report 84-299

30-Foot Land Swap
Report 85-9
