Council Mi nutes
February 12, 1985

I

Medvec respo1llled that one of the reasons it went through
was a questiOll of a county having immunity. There is a
case now that questions the whole constitutionality of
imnunity whidl would open doors as to where it could go
from there (a~tomobile, general liability, etc.). Medvec
stated he would 1 i ke to see the time shortened for the
reporting period for claims involving intoxication.

In response to Harcus's question, Medvec responded that
the current 60% increase will not be repeated in the next
few years.

Benke asked if we were looking at an "all or nothing
package" with regard to the premium breakdown. Medvec
indicated we had no option but to go with an entire
package; we cannot pick and choose line items.

Benke asked about the impact on the budget. Egan indi-
cated a budget change would be coming through the council
for about $35,000, mostly for the liquor portion of the
premium.

I

Mayor Harcus ~lcomed the League of Women Voters who
were present as part of the annual outing.

Chuck Wiger, Metropolitan Council representative, updated
the City Council on the Met Council's activities, focusing
on light rail transit, combined sewer overflow, and garbage
management.

Bernie Skrebes, member of the Regional Transit Board,
comnented on the light rail transit activity and Judy
Fletcher, Waste Control Commission, commented that their
report wi 11 be released after a March 5, 1985, meeti ng.

With the consent of council, Harcus postponed the balance
of the agenda until after an Informational Meeting regard-
ing the Long take Road Project was completed.

I

Informational Meeting

Wayne Leonard, Ramsey County, used slides to present the
proposed Long Lake Road Project to the citizens and
answered their questions.

Page Three

Welcome - League
of Women Voters

Metropolitan
Council Update

8: 30pm-ll : 45pm

Long Lake Road
ProJect
Report 84-43
