Council Mi nutes
March 26, 1985

I

Announcements and Updates

Harcus briefly reviewed the tax information, as published
in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune recently, which indicated
New Brighton ranked 11 out of 85 (85 being the highest ranked).

Benke noted that in previous years comparisons had excluded
townships which have low mill rates because they are rural in
nature and have no services, thereby giving New Brighton a
higher ranking this year. Benke also noted that if one mill
is deducted for the Arsenal, we would have a lower rate.

I

Schmidt advised the council that cable television is in 1,000
New Brighton homes and that the Town Hall Meeting this
Saturday, March 30, 1985, will be broadcast live.

Mayor would like to have staff investigate what other cities
are doing with council proceedings (delayed telecasts with
editing versus a live broadcast versus taped but unedited).

Schmidt adivsed that the North Suburban Cable Commission's
meetings are taped but unedited.

Council concurred they would like to hear Benke's report on
the National League of Cities meeting on April 9, 1985.

Adjournment
Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Harcus, to ADJOURN THE MEETING.
5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes.
