<br />1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Council Mi nutes <br />Ma rc h 1 3, 1 984 <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Harcus, to AUTHORIZE <br />THE ISSUANCE OF THE ON-SALE LIQUOR LICENSE TO THE <br />APPLICANT PENDING APPROVAL OF HIS INSURANCE COVERAGE <br />BY THE CITY ATTORNEY and also to AUTHORIZE THE <br />APPLICANT TO APPLY TWO-THIRDS OF THE WINE LICENSE <br />FEES TO THE LIQUOR LICENSE FEES. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus wished Ekegren good luck in his new <br />venture. <br /> <br />Sinda stated that, in addition to the staff report, <br />the League of Minnesota Cities today adopted the <br />same resolution and that all lobbyists that lobby <br />for cities are now moving the the same direction. <br /> <br />Schmidt asked if it was true that Sinda introduced <br />the resoltuion. Sinda indicated affirmative. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Harcus, to waive the <br />reading and adopt a resolution RECOMMENDING THAT <br />EACH CITY IN 1985 RECEIVE AN INCREASE IN STATE AID <br />OF SIX PERCENT (6%) MORE THAN RECEIVED IN 1984 AND <br />TO DIRECT CITY MANAGER TO COMMUNICATE THIS RESOLUTION <br />TO LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES AND TO TAKE WHATEVER ACTION <br />HE DEEMS APPROPRIATE TO HELP ITS PASSAGE BY THE <br />LEGISLATION. <br /> <br />Harcus agreed that this was the only thing that <br />coul d be done in the short time frame. The Council <br />has discussed in length what needs to be done long- <br />term and will need time to do that. <br /> <br />Schmidt reiterated that it was widely evident to him <br />that Sinda had established a reputation, before he <br />came here, for the work that he had done at the last <br />legislative session.
