I

I

I

Council Minutes
June 12. 1984

Blomquist mentioned that the generator would be used
as a backup for city hall as well as for the well
houses.

Benke agreed to a rental situation. but wondered if
the large generator would be needed for city hall
and suggested the purchase of one or two smaller units
along with a large generator lease type of arrangement.

Schmidt emphasized that it would not be needed for all
of city hall.

Proper indicated that we do have a generator that could
run either the city hall or the maintenance garage if
it was properly wired. Rewiring would be about $5.000
for each location and perhaps should be done whether or
not a large generator is purchased.

Blomquist asked about lead time for pumping water.
Proper indicated 24 hours of water supply is available.
assuming the tanks were filled. However. if there was
a fire we would be in trouble much sooner.

Council asked about availablity of generators and Proper
responded as to the private and public sector.

Schmidt questioned a mutual aid type of service with
other local communities. Proper reviewed the generators
in the area.

Blomquist suggested we might work out an arrangement
with Shoreview. as they do not have anything at this
time.

Benke suggested bringing this topic up at the Ramsey
County League of Local Governments meeting next week.

Motion by Harcus. seconded by Blomquist. tD DIRECT
STAFF TO CHECK WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS TO
DEVELOP A JOINT-AGREEMENT FOR A LARGE GENERATOR.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes.
