<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Mi nutes <br />August 28, 1984 <br /> <br />Page Fifteen <br /> <br />Blomquist asked if the increase in attendance for Stockyard <br />Days was due to new location, or the work of the committee. <br />Bromander feels it is the site that is bringing the people. <br /> <br />Newham felt Stockyard Days could provide a shuttle bus to <br />Long Lake Regional Park. <br /> <br />Bromander expressed concern as to what type of least agree- <br />ment could be written with the county; people would not <br />want to pay an entry fee into the park just to see the <br />museum; sewer and water; and security. <br /> <br />Schmidt didn1t feel council should hold up the Historical <br />Society or Stockyard Days and felt the depot should be left <br />where it is currently. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Schmidt, to AUTHORIZE MAYOR <br />AND THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH NEW BRIGHTON <br />HISTORICAL SOCIETY, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF A SPECIAL- <br />USE PERMIT. <br /> <br />Winkels indicated there were certain things that must be <br />brought back to the Planning Commission; the lease should <br />accompany the special-use permit application. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />Anderson reviewed staff report stating that in the Park <br />Board's judgement, and his judgement, this would be the <br />best use of the money. If the Pike Lake Trail project <br />was in the 1986 capital Improvement budget, it would be <br />done simultaneously with Long Lake Regional Park. <br /> <br />1984 CIP Change <br />Report 84-234 <br /> <br />Various ideas for the tennis courts/basketball court at <br />Hansen Park were discussed (rpmovina fence, instRlli~n <br />shorter fences that could be maintained by city crew, <br />etc.). <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist, to DELETE THE PIKE <br />LAKE TRAIL PROJECT FROM THE 1984 CIP, ADD HANSEN TENNIS <br />COURT RENOVATION AND DIRECT STAFF TO SECURE QUOTES FOR <br />RENOVATION OF HANSEN PARK TENNIS COURTS. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Anderson reviewed staff report concerning the revision of <br />the Guide/Policy Plan by the Metropolitan Council, stating <br />that the Park Board's comments, along with Council's <br />comments, would be transmitted to the Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />Recreation Open <br />Space Develop- <br />ment Guide/ <br />Policy Plan <br />Report 84-235 <br /> <br />Harcus was opposed to a "hard sell" tacti c, Benke fel t it <br />was okay to explain park system and what is available. <br />
