I

I

I

Council Minutes
January 24. 1984

Page Six

Harcus stated that $7,500 sounds like a lot of money and
suggested we buy something else or rebuild the current
equipment.

Parks and Recreation Director stated that the current
vehicle is on its last legs and repairing it would be
costly, and that we could still have a problem with it.
The vehicle we are looking at now from Cushman Motor
Company has fairly sophisticated hydraulic controls,
has scarifier attachments, and blade attachments.
The time saving with this new unit will be significant.
Will be used heavily on the ball fields. He further
stated that this unit is the only one on the market that
has everything we need.

Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to authorize the
purchase of a Cushman utility vehicle with attachments
from Cushman Motor Company, Inc. of Minneapolis in the
amount of $7,580.00.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Parks and Recreation Director reviewed the staff report
and stated that this is the exact contract we used last
year.

Harcus asked if the residents can use this contract to
get rid of dead trees if they are not oak or elm.

Parks and Recreation Director stated that only oak and
elm trees are covered in this specifit.ation. The city
pays the up-front cost and we then get reimbursed from
the resident within two or three months.

1984 Tree Removal
Specifications
Report #84-19

Harcus questioned the possibility of a "straight pass
through" and further asked about a prepayment or a
down payment.

Benke questioned some figures on the report. Anderson
responded that residents can pay a contractor to have.
trees removed and, therefore, those figures would not be
on the report.

Motion by Harcus, seconded by Janecek to approve the 1984
Specification for Removal of Trees and Stumps from Public
and Private Property and to direct staff to review the
various financing options for next year's specification.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried
