<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br />January 24, 1984 <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation reviewed the staff report <br />concerning the temporary closing of Long Lake to surface <br />use in order th~t Rice Creek Watershed District treats the <br />sediment in Long Lake. He further stated that this request <br />is similar to those in the past except that the dates will <br />be earlier this year and will have less impact to users of <br />the lake. <br /> <br />Peter Willenbring of the Rice Creek Watershed District was <br />present to comment that the proposed plan was the same <br />plan as in prior years and that they would be using the <br />same process. <br /> <br />Schmidt questioned whether or not the cost was justified. <br /> <br />Willenbring stated that this year would save about $80,000 <br />over last year's bid and that this was part of the Long <br />Lake general improvement plan and that this would be a <br />great opportunity for the City to improve the 1 ake at no <br />cost. <br /> <br />Blomquist mentioned that this has two functions; one is <br />that the potential for improving the water quality of the <br />lake, and the other is that we are supporting the Demon- <br />stration Grant by which we receive other improvements to <br />the water system within our community. <br /> <br />~otion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist that authorization <br />be given to the Rice Creek Watershed District to close Long <br />Lake from April 30 to June 8, 1984, for treatment of sediment <br />in Long Lake. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />~ . <br /> <br />City Manager reviewed the staff report on the architectural <br />services for Citizens Study Committee's City Hall Renovation <br />Study. <br /> <br />Harcus suggested that staff talk to some office planning <br />persons (space planners) before an architectural study in- <br />dicating that a lot of their advise is free and they could <br />give us some techniques. <br /> <br />Benke suggested we determine the needs and then see if the <br />building can accommodate the needs. <br /> <br />Blomquist stated that Lindberg Pierce is knowledgeable of <br />space planning. <br /> <br />Director of Community Development stated that Lindberg <br />Pierce subcontracts out to interior people and emphasized <br />that Lindberg Pierce is familiar with our building. <br /> <br />Page Seven <br /> <br />Temporary Closing of <br />Long Lake to <br />Surface Use <br />Report #84-20 <br /> <br />City Ha 11 <br />Renovation <br />Report #84-21 <br />
