<br />City of New Brighton <br />August 16, 1983 <br />Page Nine <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that the gateways to <br />the City should be developed. He further stated <br />that the more the City could do to develop and <br />promote the entrances the more the developers would <br />be willing to come into the Downtown. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Harcus to direct staff <br />to provide status reports on Community Development <br />projects at the first meeting in September and to <br />provide recommended implementation strategy and time <br />tables. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Director of Community Development reviewed <br />the staff report regarding the purchase <br />agreement for surplus property. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Blomquist to <br />authorize the Mayor and Acting City Manager to <br />execute a purchase agreement for Lots 16 & 17, <br />Redmond Addition with Paul Larson with the <br />amendment that the proposed access easement over <br />Lot 15 be deleted. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Blomquist to <br />direct staff to review the proposals and come <br />back to the first meeting in September (September <br />13, 1983)with a recommendation. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke requested that matters <br />that relate to grievances or union negotiations <br />not be a part of the discussion to follow. <br /> <br />Sharon Backstrom and Ted Cich, liquor <br />department spokespersons presented the signed <br />petitions to the Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to receive <br />the petitions and refer them to staff for con- <br />sideration. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to direct <br />staff to refer a letter from the New Brighton <br />Lions Club to representatives on the Long Lake <br />Park Advisory Board and ask them to take this <br />matter under consideration. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Purchase Agreement <br />Surplus Property <br />Report #83-218 <br />Lot 16 & 17, Block <br />1, Redmond Addition <br /> <br />Receipt of Liquor <br />Study Proposals <br /> <br />Receipt of Petition <br />from Liquor Employ. <br />Requesting 1983 <br />Salary Increases <br /> <br />General Announ- <br />cements & Updates <br />
