<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />September 13, 1983 <br />Page Nine <br /> <br />The Director of Park and Recreation reviewed <br />the staff report. <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus questioned the use of existing trucks <br />as to whether they were being used as an automobile <br />to go between sites. <br /> <br />The Director of Park and Recreation responded that <br />they were used primarily for hauling things, and <br />not used for running between sites except when <br />necessary. <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated that the money for <br />this truck was authorized in last year's budget <br />process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that the size of the <br />truck (downgrading) on the part of the Parks Depart- <br />ment was a positive step in reducing expenditures. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to authorize <br />the purchase of a 1984 GMC 1/2 ton pick-up for <br />$7,747 from General Motors Corporation. <br /> <br />Mr. Steve Ellis, 650 Tenth Street N.W. suggested <br />using trailers rather than purchasing an additional <br />truck. <br /> <br />The Director of Park and Recreation responded that <br />the amount of money saved by purchasing a trailer <br />versus a truck could be wiped out by the increase <br />in personnel costs. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br />The City Engineer reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to waive <br />the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION ORDERING THE <br />INSTALLATION OF NEW CITY STREET LIGHTS IN NEW <br />RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist to <br />approve the specifications and authorize the adver- <br />tisement for bids.
