Mayor Harcus questioned the use of existing trucks as to whether they were being used as an automobile to go between sites. The Director of Park and Recreation responded that they were used primarily for hauling things, and not used for running between sites except when necessary. Councilmember Blomquist stated that the money for this truck was authorized in last year's budget process. Councilmember Schmidt stated that the size of the truck (downgrading) on the part of the Parks Depart- ment was a positive step in reducing expenditures. Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to authorize the purchase of a 1984 GMC 1/2 ton pick-up for $7,747 from General Motors Corporation. Mr. Steve Ellis, 650 Tenth Street N.W. suggested using trailers rather than purchasing an additional truck. The Director of Park and Recreation responded that the amount of money saved by purchasing a trailer versus a truck could be wiped out by the increase in personnel costs. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried The City Engineer reviewed the staff report. Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to waive the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION ORDERING THE INSTALLATION OF NEW CITY STREET LIGHTS IN NEW RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried The City Engineer reviewed the staff report. Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist to approve the specifications and authorize the adver- tisement for bids.
