<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />September 13, 1983 <br />Page Eight <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that those who are already <br />retired should work out the wrinkles with the Firemen's <br />Relief Association members to see if there is another <br />solution. <br /> <br />Jack Chock, 591 Driftwood Rd., stated he was a vital part <br />of building this pension and that the F.R.A~ had managed <br />the money well and have a good, sound fund. He further <br />stated that he had been trying to negotiate this and <br />that the retirees had gone back with a counter proposal <br />but it was turned down. He stated that 100 percent of <br />the retirees were against the proposals brought before <br />the Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to defer action <br />and request additional actuary information to be specified <br />by staff. <br /> <br />Mr. Dan Freeman, 1478 Seventh Avenue, Treasurer of the <br />Relief Association stated that he, along with the other <br />members of the Association felt that the proposals were <br />a good idea. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Schmidt to authorize <br />payment of $3,486 from the 1983 ClP to Laughlin <br />Electric for electrical work at Hansen Park. <br /> <br />Electrical Work <br />Hansen Park <br />Report #83-232 <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Director of Park and Recreation reviewed the <br />staff report. <br /> <br />Rental of Bright- <br />wood Hills Club- <br />house <br />Report #83-233 <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated that a policy <br />should be set up so that the staff can make <br />their own decisions on issues such as this. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke stated he felt if there was <br />a way the City could use the facility and turn <br />it into a revenue making venture, it should be <br />explored, and that the staff and Park Board should <br />consider what controls there should be and what <br />prices should be charged. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Janecek to grant <br />permission to rent the Clubhouse to the individuals <br />memtioned in the report and to further direct staff <br />to develop policy on the leasing of the facility. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br />
