City of New Brighton
October 26, 1982

I

Mr. Hedlund stated that he also was concerned
for tho damage that could be done to trees as
a result of equipment removing material around
~he trees. Mr. Hedlund stated that he could
see lots of problems resulting from this project
and felt that it may make more sense to just
compensate him for damages he has already suffered
r~ther than compounding the problem by removing
LllL' dirt at this time.

Nayor Ilarcus asked the City Enqineer what the
i.mpact would be if the topsoil were not removed
from Mr. Hedlund's property and placed in
Neadowwood Park.

The City Engineer stated that the topsoil material
f",hu t t-1r. lIedl und has asked the City to remove
would be excellent for the Meadowwood Park area.
The City Engineer stated that if this material
could not be used the City would be forced to
find and pay for other material.

I

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Harcus to authorize
the loading and hauling of topsoil material to
lV\Qadowwood Park by cJulian M. Johnson Construction
in the amount of $7,800.00.
5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried

Councilmember Blomquist reviewed the Planning
COlTlmission recommendation regarding the
creation of a citizen advisory board to aid
in the planning and development of the
Bury/Miller development district. Councilmember
Blomquist stated that there have been numerous
requests for information regarding a resource
recovery facility, there has been concern for
land uses within the district and there has been
concern for potential soil and water contamination
in the area. For these reasons Councilmember
Blomquist stated that he fel t_ an advisory board may
be a good idea.

Citizen Advisory
Board - Bury/Miller
Development District
Report No. 82-268

Councilmember Janecek asked if creating an additional
advisory board would cause significdnt staff workload
)Jroblems.

I

The Director of Community Development stated that the
advisory board would obviously mean additional evening
meetinqs but that other than the meetings the advisory
board would not generate additional work for staff by
itself.

-6-
