<br />I <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />November 9, 1982 <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed the staff reports <br />and recommendations. <br /> <br />Phase II Deep <br />Well Construction <br />Report No. 82-273 <br />RESOLUTION #2650 <br />RESOLUTION #2651 <br /> <br />Councilm~~er Schmidt asked if the report <br />from Serco Laboratories had been received <br />regarding the water quality in well #9. <br /> <br />The City Engineer replied that Serco Laboratories <br />had completed some preliminary tests, but that <br />the written report had not yet been received. <br />The City Engineer stated that the final report <br />should be available within the next few days <br />but that Serco Laboratories had verbally <br />indicated that they were confident the report <br />would show excellent water quality. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council that they <br />would prefer to see the final written document <br />regarding water quality testing prior to commencing <br />with Phase II deep well construction. <br /> <br />The City Attorney indicated that if the Council <br />desired, they could approve Phase II construction <br />contingent upon the appropriate written confirmation <br />from Serco Laboratories. <br /> <br />I <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to direct staff <br />to work with the Minnesota PCA in submitting a grant <br />application for deep well construction, pre-aythorization, <br />carbon filtration, and a comprehensive aquifer analysis <br />study to EPA. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to award a contract <br />for the construction of Well #10 in the estimated amount <br />of $166,600 to Bergerson Caswell, Inc. and to award a <br />contract for the constructio~'of Well #11 in the estimated <br />amout of $188,700 to Keys Well Drilling Co. subject to <br />receiving written confirmation from Serco Laboratories <br />showing no contamination in the water from reconstructed <br />Well #9. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Mr. Charles Barger, RCM Associates, Inc., reviewed the <br />Preliminary Engineering Report regarding the iron <br />removal facilities. <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to receive the <br />Prliminary Engineering Report Iron Removal Facilities <br />from RCM, Inc., to approve the recommendations contained <br />on pp. 25-27 and to direct the City Engineer to work with <br />RCM, inc. in the preparation of plans and specifications <br />pursuant to the recommendations. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />-3- <br />
