<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Clty of New Brighton <br />:~~ember 14, 1982 <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Schmidt to waive <br />the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS <br />OF FACT AND APPROVING APPLICATION FOR PLAT, PL-133. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Council Business <br />Maurice Anderson, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation, was present to discuss the proposed <br />transfer to Ramsey County. <br /> <br />Transfer of <br />Long Lake Park <br />Report No. 82-301 <br />RESOLUTION #2663 <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke asked if staff had any <br />comment regarding the letter that was received <br />from the Long Lake Improvement Association's <br />attorney. <br /> <br />The City Attorney stated that the offer from the <br />Improvement Association was to withdraw the <br />pending lawsuits in exchange for modifications <br />in the Park Master Plan, specifically involving <br />the beach location and proposed boat launch area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt noted that this offer had <br />been received previously and that it would require <br />a change to the approved Master Plan that had been <br />reviewed at length by the Park Board, City Council <br />and Ramsey County Board. Councilmember Schmidt <br />stated that he could see no reason for the changes <br />proposed in the Park Master Plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke etated that he did not feel <br />that by transferring the property to the County <br />that the option of changes proposed by the <br />Association would be forever prohibited. <br />Councilmember Benke stated that he felt the Park <br />Master Plan had received considerable review and <br />that he felt the City should proceed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Janecek stated that she agreed with <br />CouncilmembersBenkeand Schmidt, and in addition <br />stated that she did not feel the City had the <br />ability to make the changes requested at this time. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to waive <br />the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SALE <br />OF CITY-OWNED LAND DESIGNATED AS LONG LAKE PARK TO <br />RA}1SEY COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING THOSE <br />LANDS AS A REGIONAL PARK and further to direct staff <br />to communicate with Ramsey County a willingness on the <br />part of the City to complete the removal of sludge from <br />the "tar pits". <br /> <br />-4- <br />
