A Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission is hereby established. Sec. 2-78. Purpose. The purpose of this Commission is to advise the Council on the proper use of, and care for, parks and the natural environment and policies covering recreation activities of the City of New Brighton. Sec. 2-79. Duties and responsibilities. The duties and responsibilities of this Commission shall be: (a) Oversee the activities of public and private agencies in New Brighton with concern for their effects on the quality of the parks and environment in New Brighton. Raise issues and concerns for staff and council to consider in regards to those activities. (b) Consider current and proposed plans and operations of city departments as they affect or concern parks, the environment, and recreation activities. Seek community opinion as appropriate and evaluate and recommend action to improve them. (c) Monitor conditions of city park property and community environmental conditions and practices and evaluate and recommend actions to improve them. (d) Keep the school district apprised and seek its participation and cooperation in use of school and park land, buildings, and equipment. (e) Perform other duties and functions or conduct studies and investigations as directed by the council. DIVISION 3. PUBLIC POLICY COMMISSION Sec. 2-80. Establishment. A Public Policy Commission is hereby established. Sec. 2-81. Purpose. The purpose of this commission shall be to advise the council on public policy issues of a general nature, or outside the purview of other advisory commissions, as assigned by the council. Sec. 2-82.
