<br />(a) Research issues and perform special projects assigned by the council employing <br />strong policy analysis practices and report findings, conclusions, and <br />recommendations in writing and in a presentation at a council meeting. The city <br />manager and council will identify a specific plan of study for the commission to <br />follow when referring and assigning issues. <br /> <br />(b) Identify city policies that need to be changed. Propose plan of study to city manager <br />and city council for review and approval. If approved, employ strong policy analysis <br />practices and report findings, conclusions, and recommendations in writing and in a <br />presentation at a council meeting. <br /> <br />(c) Make recommendations to the City Council regarding the annual town hall meeting to <br />inform and engage citizens in topical city issues and operations. <br /> <br />DIVISION 4. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> <br />Sec. 2-100. Establishment. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission is hereby established. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-101. Purpose. <br /> <br />The purpose of this commission is to advise the council on matters concerning industrial and <br />commercial development for the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-102. Composition. <br /> <br />The Commission shall consist of the following: two (2) city council members, and seven (7) <br />members of the community representing but not limited to a variety of local business and <br />industry. The city's community development director and the chamber of commerce <br />executive shall serve as ex officio member of the commission. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-103. Duties and Responsibilities. <br /> <br />The duties and responsibilities of this Commission shall be as follows: <br /> <br />(a) To confer with and advise the council, Planning Commission, and community <br />development staff on all matters concerning the industrial and commercial <br />development of the city. <br /> <br />(b) To assist the city with preparations of and advise the city council regarding economic <br />development marketing plans, programs, and strategies for the city. <br /> <br />(c) To assist and provide advice on the collection of data and information pertinent to the <br />economic well being of the city. <br /> <br />CLL80560 <br />NE136-98 <br />
