Termina~ions <br /> <br />',." .' <br /> <br />Any employee leaving the municipal service in good standing after <br />giving fourteen (14) calendar days' written notice of resignation <br />shall be compensated for accrued vacation. An employee with a <br />minimum of ten (10) years of City full time service shall receive <br />twenty-five percent (25%) of sick leave to a maximum of one hun- <br />dred twenty (120) accrued days which is equivalent to thirty (30) <br />days at their normal rate. <br /> <br />Employees may be involuntarily terminated for any reason not pro- <br />scribed by law at the will of the City. The City will give the <br />employee fourteen (14) calendar days written notice of termination <br />or the financial equivalent thereof. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I Section 21-23. <br />I <br />I <br />I (a) <br />! <br />Ii <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />(a) Resignations <br /> <br />In order to receive termination benefits, an employee must <br />submit a written resignation at least fourteen (14) calendar <br />days prior to date of resignation. <br /> <br />Failure to comply with this procedure may be considered cause <br />for denying such employee future employment by the City and <br />termination benefits. Unauthorized absences of work for a <br />period of three (3) working days may Qe considered as a <br />resignation without notice. (Code 1966 ~ 240.44; Ord. <br />No. 347, 1-28-75) <br /> <br />(a) Retirement <br /> <br />The mandatory retirement age for City employees shall be <br />seventy (70) years of age. At the discretion of the City <br />Manager and subject to periodic reevaluation, a work <br />extension may be granted beyond the mandatory retirement <br />age. Work extensions shall be on an individual basis upon <br />request of the employee. Any employee considered for an <br />extension shall demonstrate physical and mental competency <br />to continue in the position. Such requests for a work <br />extension will be considered on an individual basis by the <br />City rlanager at least thi.rty (30) calendar days prior to the <br />mandatory retirement age. (Code 1966, g 240.46; Ord. No. <br />347, 1-28-75; Ord. No. 359, 8-26-75) <br /> <br />Political Activity <br /> <br />The political activities listed below are specifically pro-l <br />hibited by city employees. Employees engaging in any of <br />these activities are subject to disciplinary action. <br /> <br />( I) <br /> <br />Campaigning for a candidate or issue during prescribed <br />working hours or while on city business; <br /> <br />( 2 ) <br /> <br />Attempting to influence a campaign by specifically <br />alluding to the employee's position with the City; <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />(3) Participating in a campaign where such participation <br />constitutp~ a conflict of interest between the employee <br />and the carrying out of duties prescribed in the I <br />employee's job description. I <br /> <br />No employee of the city shall hold any other office or 1 <br />employment under the city, county, state, or federal govern- I <br />ment, or any division thereof, except such office or employ- I <br />ment which does not interfere with the impartial discharge <br />of duties or result in the vTielding of legislative or execu- I <br />tive authority over conditions of employment or over service <br />superiors. <br /> <br />-10- <br />
