.. - ..: < ORDINANCE NO. 546 It, ,~ 3J~.- STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF RAMSEY CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON 1. ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTION OF CHAPTER II , ARTICLE IV: OF THE NEW BRIGHTON CITY CODE. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON ORDAINS: DIVISION 6. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION 2-121 2-122 2-123 2-124 2-125 2-126 2-127 Short Title. This ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the "New Brighton Economic Development Commission Ordinance". Definitions. For the purpose of this ordinance, the followIng words and their derivations shall have the meanings as set out herein. a. "Commission" is the Economic Development Commission of the City as created by 'this ordinance, b. "Chairperson" Is the rhalrperson of the Economic Development Commission as provided hereunder. c. "VIce-Chairperson" is the Vice Chairperson of the Economic Development Commission as provided hereunder. d. "Secretary" is the Secretary of the Economic Development Commission as provided hereunder. e. "Planning Commission" Is the City Planning Commission of the City of New Brighton. Establishment. An Economic Development Commission is hereby established to be advisory to the Council and Planning Commission, which Economic Development Commission shall have the powers and duties hereinafter set forth. Terms of Office. Of the members of the CommiSsion first appointed, five shall be appointed for terms expiring In December 31, 1987, and four shall be appointed for terms ex- piring in December 31, 1988. Upon expiration of said initial terms, future appointees shall serve two-year terms expiring In January of the appropriate year provided, however, that members shall continue their terms until new appointments or reappoIntments are made by the City Council. The City Council shall make appointments to the Commission in January of each year or as soon thereafter as it desires. Vacancies during the term shall be filled by the City Council for the unexpired portion of the term. Qualifications. The commission shall consist of the following: Two City Council members, and seven members of the community representing, but not limited to the Chamber of Commerce, Independent School district, Area Board of Realtors, and local churches. The City Community Development Director shall serve as ex-officio member of the commission. Removal of Members. The Council by a four-fifths vote of its members shall have the authority to remove any member of the Commission from office whenever, in its discretion, the best Interest of the City shall be served thereby. Meetings~ Officers. The Commission will name its own officers to serve at Its pleasure from the membership of the Commission.
