The organization of the building department and enforcement of the code shall be conducted within the guidelines established by chapter 2 of the Uniform Building Code, 1985 edition. The code shall be enforced within the incorporated limits of the city and extra territorial limits permitted by Minnesota Statutes, Section 16B.62. The community development department shall be the building code department of the city. The administrative authority shall be a state certified "building official, class II" as prescribed by Minnesota Rules, Chapter 1300.900. The appointing authority shall be the city manager. 6. Sections 7-5 through 7-15 of the New Brighton City Code are reserved for future use. 7. Section 7-16 of the New Brighton City Code entitled "Per- mits, inspections and fees" is amended to read as follows: Section 7-16. Permits, inspections and fees. permi ts, inspections and collection of fees shall be as provided in chapter 3 of the Uniform Building Code, 1985 edition. Permit valuation shall be determined by the building official according to the standards set forth in the current edition of the "Building Standards" magazine under building valuation data. 8. Section 7-17 of the New Brighton City Code entitled "Sur- charge" is amended to read as follows: Section 7-17. Surcharge. In addition to the permit fee required by section 7 -16 above, the applicant shall pay a surcharge in the amount and as prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, Section 16B.70. The required amount shall be remitted to the Minnesota Department of Adminis- tration. 9. Section 7-18(1) of the New Brighton City Code entitled "Building permit fees" is amended to read as follows: (1) Building permit fees: Total Valuation Fee $1. 00 to $500.00 $15.00
