<br />Section 495:08 Definitions. <br /> <br />Subd. 1. Words used in the present tense include the future: <br />words in the masculine gender include the feminine and neuter: the <br />singular number includes the plural and the plural the singular. <br /> <br />Subd. 2. Where terms are not defined in this section and are <br />defined in the Building Code or Zoning Code, they shall have the <br />meanings ascribed to them in the building code or zoning code. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Where terms are not d~fined under the provisions of <br />this ordinance or in the Building or Zoning Code, they shall have <br />ascribed to them their ordinary accepted meanings and/or such as <br />the context herein may imply. <br /> <br />Subd. 4. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the following <br />terms shall, for the purpose of this ordinance, have the meanings <br />indicated in this subdivision: <br /> <br />a. Approved as applied to a material, devise, or method of <br />construction shall mean approved by the enforcement officer under <br />the provisions of this ordinance, or approved by other authority <br />designated by law to give approval in the matter in question. <br /> <br />b. Basement is that portion of a building between floor and <br />cei.ling, which is partly below and partly above grade, but so <br />located that the vertical distance from'grade to floor below is <br />less than the vertical distance from grade.. to ceiling. <br /> <br />c. Building Code shall mean the Building Code of the Village <br />of New Brighton including any future amendments, ,the Electrical <br />Code, plumbing Code, Heating Code, Fire Code and Zoning Code. <br /> <br />d. cellar is that portion of a building between floor and <br />ceiling which is wholly or partly below grade and so located that <br />the vertical distance from grade to floor below is equal to or <br />greater than the vertical distance from grade to ceiling. <br /> <br />e. Dwellinq. Any building or portion thereof which is <br />designed or used primarily for residential purposes. <br /> <br />f. Dwelling Unit. Residential accommodation including <br />complete kitchen facilities, permanently installed, which are <br />arranged, designed, used or intended for use primarily as living <br />quarters for one family and not more than an aggregate of two (2) <br />roomers or boarders. <br /> <br />g. Exterior property Areas shall mean open space on the <br />premises under the control of the owners or operators of such <br />premises. <br /> <br />h. Enforcement Officer shall mean an inspector of the <br />Building Inspection Department or his authorized representative,. <br />
