NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES APRIL 5, 1989 I. The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm by Chairman Johnson II. Members present: Carlson, Johnson, Kalina, Ocel, Olson, Rose,Seward, Council Rep. Gunderman. Also present were residents concerned about the Pike Lake Trail Members absent: Eichers, Van Hatten III. Minutes of March 1, 1989 MOTION BY SEWARD, SECONDED BY OCEL, TO APPROVE THE MARCH 1, 1989 PARK BOARD MINUTES. MOTION CARRIED. IV. Correspondence A. Council Report Gunderman stated that Dave Childs has been chosen as the new City Manager. He also reminded everyone of the Town Hall meeting scheduled on Sat., April 8 from 8:00-Noon. B. Long Lake Advisory Committee Johnson said-there was no meeting. V. New Business A. Pike Lake Trail- Review Final Plans and Construction Estimates Anderson said a link between Palmer Drive and Long Lake Park has been talked about for five or six years. There are a few reasons for the delay. One has been a long drawn out discussion with the church on an easement. It was originally thought there would be no cost involved for this easement. The location for this easement has changed three times. Another reason for the delay is the upgrading of Long Lake Road. We were reluctant to do construction of the trail until the road was finalized.. Another delay was waiting for the path which is linked to Long Lake Park a Without the path the Pike Lake Trail had no place to go. The path to Long Lake Park will be completed this summer. Anderson explained that this meeting is to let residents know of changes in design and final costs. Anderson said there is additional screening, agreement with the church and Highway Department for land easement and there is a timetable. If the Council gives the go ahead construction will start late August or early September when there is less impact on the heron population. It should be done early fall.
