NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />MARCH 1, 1989 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:4Opm by chairman Johnson <br />II. Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Kalina, Ocel, Olson, Van Hatten <br />Council Rep. Gunderman. Also present were Greg <br />Mack, Director of Ramsey County Parks and Recreation <br />Neil Franey of Friends of St. Paul and Ramsey County <br />Parks and four University of Minnesota students in <br />the parks. and recreation program. <br />Members absent: Carlson, Rose, Seward <br />III. Minutes of January 4, 1989 <br />The minutes of the January -4, 1989 meeting were approved as <br />submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Gunderman stated he was glad to be back. <br />City Manager and has the search down to 6 <br />have someone chosen by March 22nd. There <br />management laws in 1991. The grant for a <br />was approved. The Council indicated that <br />idea. <br />The city is looking for <br />candidates. Should <br />will be new waste <br />new senior citizen van <br />the van was a good <br />Anderson said the van would be a 14 passenger with a lift. <br />Gunderman said the city is working with the National Guard <br />regarding an armory in New Brighton. A task force has been <br />appointed to assist with a needs analysis, site selection and <br />building program. Ken Johnson is co-chair along with Ed Walhoff <br />for the needs analysis. Roger Williams and Arlyn Gunderman are <br />the Council Reps. There will be about 40 people involved. <br />Anderson said the Park Board would be involved in specific items. <br />Gunderman said that Arden Hills, Mounds View, and New Brighton <br />are jointly investigating softball fields on the arsenal <br />property. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Johnson said the committee met. Discussion centered around the <br />bike trail. <br />Greg Mack explained that if the piece of land currently <br />designated as Rice Creek north trail is incorporated into Long <br />Lake Park development, funding will be easier to obtain. <br />
