NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES"' <br />MAY 4, 1988 <br />I. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Johnson at 7:35pm <br />II. Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Ocel, Olson, Rose, <br />Seward, Van Hatten <br />III. MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY VAN HATTEN, TO APPROVE THE <br />MINUTES OF APRIL 6, 1988 AS SUBMITTED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Brandt stated the council received the facilities report. <br />Edgewood may be used as a school again so that facility <br />will be lost as a community center. There is a meeting <br />scheduled for May 19, 7:OOpm at City Hall in the Council <br />Chambers. A professional survey will be taken. Want to <br />hear from residents regarding their feelings on a <br />community center. <br />Long Lake boat launch was approved as the Park Board <br />proposed. <br />The housing project at the north end of Veterans Park was <br />approved after the developer had made some changes. The <br />Park Board had trouble with the apartment building. It <br />will be removed and the new building will be set back <br />away from the park. They deleted a couple of units from <br />the original building plan. <br />The revised Harstad proposal was favorably received by <br />the Council. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Ken Johnson said no meeting was held. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Pike Lake Trail <br />Anderson gave the history of the Pike Lake Trail. During <br />the process of negotiating with Ramsey County regarding <br />Long Lake Park, the access to the park was brought up. A <br />greenway system on Old 8 is planned from the west access <br />down to Mississippi. There will be a trail access off <br />Long Lake Road through the old beach area. There was <br />discussion of a trail between Pike Lake and the freeway <br />about 4 years ago. The project has been in the action <br />
