<br />-<< <br />.: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1 c () <br /> <br />'~ <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />S'rATE OF }1INNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR LICENSING BICYCLES, REGULATING <br />THEIR USE, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION. <br /> <br />The Council of the Village of New Brighton does ordain as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. Definition. For purposes of this ordinance the term <br /> <br />"bicycle" includes any devise propelled by human power upon which any person <br /> <br />may ride, having two tandem wheels, and any other devise generally recognized <br /> <br />as a bicycle though equipped with two front or two rear wheels. <br /> <br />Section 2. License required. No resident of the Village of New <br /> <br />Brighton shall ride or propel a bicycle upon any street or other highway in <br /> <br />the Village unleSS such bioycle has been licensed and a license:', tag is <br /> <br />attached as provided in this ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 3. Procedure. <br /> <br />(1) Application for a bicycle license shall be made to the Police <br /> <br />Department of the Village of New Brighton on a form to be approved <br /> <br />by the Village Attorney. The application shall be accompanied by <br /> <br />a fee of <br /> <br />Sol <br /> <br />which shall be paid into the Village <br /> <br />Treasury upon the granting of a license. Upon receipt of such <br /> <br />application in proper form and after a determination upon inspection <br /> <br />that the bicycle to be licensed is in safe condition and equipped <br /> <br />as required by this ordinance, the Polioe Department shall firmly <br /> <br />attach to the frame of the bicycle a nillnbered license tag furnished <br /> <br />by the Village. A registration card with corresponding numbers shall <br /> <br />be issued to the owner of the bicycle and a duplicate card shall <br /> <br />be retained by the Police Department. <br />(2) hvery license shall expire on the 1st day of 0 C + <..} be ( <br /> <br />of each year. <br /> <br />(3) Within thirty days after ownership of a licensed bioycle has <br /> <br />been transferred, the new owner shall make application to the <br />Police Department for a transfer of registration, returning the <br /> <br />old registration card with his applioation. A new registration <br />card shall then be issued without charge to the new owner. <br />
