<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />coqNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to information received during a briefing of City <br />qfficials Friday afternoon, July 17, 1981 by the Minnesota <br />Pollution Control Agency and the Minnesota Health Department <br />the Mayor convened the City Council at an emergency meeting <br />to consider said information at 3:30 p.m. July 17, 1981 at <br />the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, New Brighton, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Senden, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />James W. Fornell, City Manager <br />Donald L. Lais, City Attorney <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br />Dave Fridgen, city Sanitarian <br />Vernon C. Pederson, City Clerk <br />Gene Skiba, New Brighton Bulletin <br /> <br />The Mayor stated he had convened the Council to review and <br />discuss the information supplied by the Pollution Control <br />Agency and the Health Department and to consider action <br />pursuant to such information. <br /> <br />After considerable discussion the Council determined that <br />citizens be notified that information received indicated <br />a potential long-term health problem because of low levels <br />of groundwater contaminatio~ a draft letter advising the <br />citizens of such potential health hazard was approved and <br />the city Manager was directed to incorporate such draft into <br />a formal letter to be mailed to each household within the <br />City and that said letter be made part of the official <br />minutes. <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to formalize the <br />above action. <br />3 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />No further action was taken. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to adjourn at 4:14 p.m. <br />3 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />D: <br /> <br />~ (I" ~ <br /> <br />Vernon C. pederson, Clerk <br />
