About $700 of
valuable unreplaceable artifacts were stolen at a recent burglary at the Depot. Between
the costs of insurance, building maintenance, and the purchase of a security system;
membership dues do not cover the expenses needed to maintain the historical site.
Gunderman feels the NBAHS has done a wonderful job representing New Brighton and
feels the funding is appropriate.

Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to PROVIDE $1,500 TO THE NBAHS
FOR CONTINUATION OF THEIR WORK IN THE CITY.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Benke suggested a cooperative project with the NBAHS to display some of their priceless
collection at the Family Service Center and the Council Chambers. He speculates this
display would require further budget outlays, and strategies need to be researched.
Newham said the NBAHS will be happy to assist in this project.

Council A~enda

Council Minutes

Commission Minutes

Special Order of
Business

NBAHS Donation
Report 97-039
