PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />May 1, ? 9'7~- <br />The meeting was called to order at 8'2_l p.m. by Acting Chairman Weissman. <br />Board members present° Cook, Smith, Sullivan. and Weissman. Dahl appeared <br />at 8:30 p.m. <br />Others present• James Strauss, 20th Avenue S.W.; Lenore Parham, Planning <br />Commission; Karen Malver, League of ~flomen Voters and Robert tit~icklund, <br />Director of Parks and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of April 3, 197 were approved as <br />submitted.- <br />Agenda additions° None. <br />Donation from Designed Fiberglass <br />Cook commented that he was convinced that the fiberglass bull-offered <br />as a donation to the park system would be a safety hazard and would serve <br />no real function. Smith moved to decline the motion with appreciation <br />for the company's interest. Seconded by Sullivan. Weissman stated that <br />he did not like to decline the offer but could not thing of an appropriate <br />use for the item. Motion carried ~--0. <br />Department Report <br />1. The Board received a copy of the Fail and Winter Program Summary. <br />It was noted that the number of programs and participation level <br />~a~as rapidly increasing as a result of the new relationship w.'.;h uc~~ool <br />District 621. <br />Board member Dahl appeared. <br />2. The meeting between all advisory boards and commissions held the <br />previous night was reviewed by Smith. <br />3. It was reported to the Board that the Park and Recreation System <br />Survey is being conducted and that early indications are that everyone <br />is enthusiastically participating in the survey. <br />Community Facilities Component - Comprehensive Plan <br />Lenore Parham, Chairman of the New Brighton Planning Commission, appeared <br />before the Board to explain their efforts in developing the public <br />facilities component of the Comprehensive Plan. This section deals with <br />all of the service and support facilities required for those services <br />such as sewer, water, police, fire and-parks and recreation. She stated <br />that it was critical that the Park Board provide input on the Parks and <br />
