PARK BOc:RD NiEETIPSG November 3, 1971 The meeting was called to order at 8:06 P.M. i Board Members Present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Smith and tleissman Council Representative Moen appeared at 8:09. Hagemeyer appeared at 8:36. Absent: Sherlock Others Present: Councilman and Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Dorvan Moen, Mrs. Lenore Parham and Robert Wicklund, Director of Farks-and Recreation. The minutes of the regular meeting of October 6, 1971 were approved as submitted, Agenda Additions: Presentation on Community Betterment Task Force Discussion of Rosacker Property 15th St. and 29th Ave. N.W. Community Betterment Task Force Lenore Parham of the Community Betterment Task 'orce appeared before the Board. She stated that the Task Force had held an organizational meeting and requested that the Park Board designate a representative to serve as an ex-officio member. Cook was appointed to serve as regular representative with Dahl as the alternate. Ramsey County Onen St~ace Plan Dahl reviewed the inter-suburb meeting on the Ramsey County Open Space Plan held October 13 .. Several north suburban communities and school districts were represented. Mr. Ken Simons of the Ramsey County Open Space staff appeared at that meeting to discuss the County's progress. At present the staff is specifically defining those parcels to be acquired. When that is completed a schedule of priorities will be determined. However, Simons stated that parcels under pressure for development will be dealt with out of context. Dahl explained that Simons had brought out the following points concerning :the County's philosophy: i.. The system would emphasize large park areas. 2. Facilities would not duplicate municipal neighborhood parks. 3. There would be a corridor system linking park areas where possible. Gunderman expressed his feeling that any type of schedule for acquisition would not be followed because of political and development pressures. He suggested. that if i3ew Brighton was interested in having the County purchase any property in the Village a recommendation should be made immediately. A special meeting on November 16 at 8:30 was set for discussion of a specific recommendation. The Council and Planning Commission are to be invited.
