} PARK BOARD MEETING <br />June 3, 1970 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8e13 <br />Board Members Present: Dahl,. Hagemeyer, Gunderman, Smith <br />Weissman appeared at 8:45 <br />Board Members Absent: .Barnhill, Sherlock <br />Others Present: Robert Wicklund Village Park and Recreation Director <br />Minutes of nieetrtg of May 6, 170 were approved as submitted <br />Chairman Gunderman introduced the new board member Gerald Smith to <br />the Board and citizens present at the meeting. <br />Mrs. Dahl requested that the Park Naming contest be added to the <br />agenda. <br />Seventh Street Park Development <br />A report was given on the status of the 7th Street Park site, <br />Site Work - The shaping of the west side of the control structure <br />remains to be done. The wet ground has delayed this <br />somewhat. <br />Planting -The contractor has planted the required trees and <br />shrubs. He is at present following up by watering, <br />pruning, etc. <br />Sod & Seed- The truckers strike prevented the contractor from <br />installing the materials during the May 1 to June 1 <br />planting season. He could start work a t his own risk <br />at this time but the sewer and road work going on <br />would require some of the planted areas to be dug up. <br />It was determined that waiting until the August 15 - <br />September i5 planting season would be the wisest course. <br />Paving - The contractor, who was also held up by strikes, began <br />work on June 1. He is laying sewer lines. <br />Building -Meetings have been held with Mr. Arthur Dickey, the <br />architect. He has determined that the most suitable <br />site is the area where the tennis courts are shown on <br />the original plan. The soil is stable and the orientation <br />is convenient to both the hockey and general skating <br />areas. The proposed structure is somewhat unique in <br />that it is more than a playground shelter but less than <br />a full community center. The architect intends to <br />
