<br />TOn VILLAGE PARK BOARD MEMBER~a <br />FROM VILLAGE MANAGf~:R <br />SUBJECT® PARK BOARD MEETTNG9 JANUARY 69 1965 <br /> <br />January 119 1965 <br />The last Pax°k Board .meeting was devoted to a general discussion centering around <br />consulting services in the matter of parkso I took down a number of eomments made <br />by board membersa These comments are paraphrased below in the hope that somehow <br />the individual feelings of members may be brought into focus grid from there a <br />board position may be established relative to park consulting serviceso Please <br />understand that these paraphrased domments may riot completely ref~.ect the speaker°s <br />exact position or feelings, I have taken the liberty of expanding some of the,commentso <br />1, Reliability is to be found in using professional assistance on <br />a program of this size and importances <br />2, Preparation of explanatory materials9 plates9 diagrams9 charts9 <br />etcm in selling a park program is best accomplished by a.consultanto <br />3a The public relations aspect of selling this type of program is <br />'nest suited to a consultanto <br />4~ A consultant who has i?ad the experience of success and failure <br />in .bond issues should be in p®sition t® accent those characteristics which spell <br />success and to avoid those pitfalls which mean failureo <br />5o Tack of control over a consultant is a serious mattero <br />6, Defining what is-desired of the consultant is a collary problem <br />to controlling him, <br />7o The board has heard from ono consultanto <br />ao Is this enough <br />bo May this result in later criticism? <br />co Is it advantageous to listen to more or will this <br />merely serve to delay action2 <br />8, A decision on land acquisition for park purposes is rapidly becoming <br />critica.lo <br />The P~c~ard has scheduled another meeting for January 139 1965 ~a•ith Mr, Donald Brauer <br />of Brauer and Associate;, He is to come equiped with a more specific prop®salo This <br />
