A <br />NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD ..MINUTES <br />FEBRUARY C, 1985 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm by Ken Johnson. <br />II. Members Present: Blomquist, Carlson, Johnson, Rose, Seward, <br />Van Hatten, Council Rep. Benke <br />Members Absent: Gunderman, Olson <br />III. Minutes <br />A. Minutes of January 2, 1935 were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Benk'e stated the Council and Staff were involved in a woxk <br />program on ,Tanuary 18 & 19 which included accomplishments <br />from the past year and goal setting for 1985& 1986 and a <br />10-2'0 year plan, including parks. The Bond election will <br />be on April 30 for City Hall improvements.. Relating to parks, <br />an update with a series of meetings with neighborhoods from <br />parks was suggested. <br />Benke said there are two main areas of development being <br />discussed in the city at the present time. <br />1.', Staff is working on proposing a seniors development <br />north of Veterans Park. Three stories. The. idea <br />would be for the current empty nesters living in <br />homes to move to the sena.ors development and new <br />families came into their homes. That would have an <br />impact on the development of Veterans Park. <br />2.' At the Planning Commission meeting there was a concept <br />plan discussion for development of the area near Old 8 <br />and Hwy, 96; the east border of Rush Lake. Studies <br />', were very thorough and sensitive to the park. Single <br />family and some office buildings were in the concept <br />plan. •~7i11 be back to the Planning Commission February 19 <br />and the Park Board is invited. The Long Lake Park Advisory <br />Committee will be kept informed.. On Tuesday night the <br />CIP will be reviewed at the Council meeting. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Johnson said the two main points discussed were the Historical <br />Society building for the museum and access to the boat launch. <br />The ',discussion on the museum was very positive. The discussion <br />on access control went around and around. <br />Johnson. said, yes, but after the meeting many told him it was <br />the most positive meeting they had had. <br />
