NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 3, 1986
I. The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm by Chairman Johnson.
II. Members present: Blomquist, Carlson, Johnson., Kalina, Olson,
Rose, Van Hatten
Members absent: Eichers, Seward, Council Rep. Williams
III. Minutes
A. Minutes of August 6, 1986
MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY CARLSON, TO APPROVE THE
MINUTES OF AUGUST 6, 1986 AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Since Councilman Williams was absent Anderson informed the
Park Board that the Council did vacate 3rd Avenue even though
there-was opposition from residents.
Rose commented that all the streets in that area are dug up.
Anderson said they are but there hasn't been any work done
on those streets for many years. The City wanted to do this
project along with the other projects, i.e. City Hall construction.
B. Long Lake Advisory Committee
Johnson said he hasn't heard anything from the Long Lake
Advisory Committee; no meeting has been scheduled.
V. New Business
A. 1987-91 CIP
Anderson said the ball field lighting has been in the budget
for 10 years. It is currently scheduled for 1987. Freedom
is the most logical field to light. It is a full size field
and only one side of the park has homes. There appears to
be some sentiment from the Council in doing this in 1987.
Would like to know how the Park Board feels. The lighted
field would get use from adult softball. and youth football
and baseball. This is the year we put up or shut, up. Freedom
field needs to be regraded anyway so the lighting may as well
be done at the same-time.
Van Hatten asked if the field would be in use next year.
Anderson said no, the following year. Vets would be done first.
