NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES SEPTEMBER 1, 1993 I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chair Olson II. Members present: ,Carlson, Eichers, Kinzie, Ocel, Olson, Trevorrow Also present: Residents from the Innsbruck Park area Members absent: Helgeson, Kalina, Knuth, Council Rep. Williams III. Minutes of June 2, 1993 MOTION BY CARLSON, SECONDED BY KINZIE, TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. IV. A. Council Report None given. B. Multi City Senior Center Anderson said that Doris Ocel had suggested that updates of current Park and Rec issues be given the Park Board in writing. Anderson apologized for not having done that but said he could now verbally inform the Park Board of the status of some of these items. Anderson stated that Met Council did not approve the Senior Center to be put on the site in Fridley. A develper would like to purchase the whole Rice Creek shopping area, with the exception of a few businesses and build another senior residence area and include a senior center on the site. He told the Senior Task Force he would know more in 30 days. Anderson handed out a table that showed the costs and services of the Multi-City Senior Center with variations depending on the site chosen. Anderson also mentioned that he had received proposals on playground equipment for Vermont Park and has met with the residents to have them choose the equipment they wanted. They wanted all the playground equipment they could get for the money. They were not as interested in aesthetics as the Driftwood people were. The equipment will be installed this fall. Anderson stated that the playground equipment is in at Driftwood and it is getting a lot of use. It was very difficult to install. Three people spent almost 3 weeks installing it. The neighborhood likes it. Carlson asked what the company's response was to the difficult installation. Anderson said they sent two people out to help us install the equipment.
