December 6, 1989 Park Board Minutes <br />2 <br />Anderson said he was told that Pratt Homes may come to the Park <br />Board with something but now found out they are not planning to <br />come to the Park Board with their plan. <br />Anderson said he wants to make sure the Park Board has a chance <br />to respond to this new plan. <br />Gunderman asked Anderson to notify him before this comes to the <br />Council. <br />Anderson s-aid that if the plan does not come back to the Park <br />Board, he will write a letter to Erny Mattila stating the Park <br />Board does not accept the plan. <br />Ocel stated she was at the neighborhood meeting, there wasn't <br />much opposition although residents did not want the strip mall. <br />Gunderman inquired about the status of Harstad (St. Mary's) <br />property. <br />Anderson said he's trying to sell off that property. <br />Ocel inquired about the status of the Rice Creek Bike Trail <br />into Long Lake Parka <br />Anderson suggested giving state legislators a call to push it. <br />Anderson said the City is loaning Ramsey County $90,000 to <br />build the bridge over Rice Creek. <br />Ocel asked about the Pike Lake Trail. <br />Anderson responded that it is r.omplete except for the curbing <br />at the Church. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Carlson stated his concern that there may be no need for this <br />committee in the future because of the new independent Park <br />Boards that have been formed in St. Pau.1. and Ramsey County. <br />Concerned because New Brighton may no longer be involved in <br />Long Lake Park. The contract between New Brighton and Ramsey <br />County is coming up. we may no longer be operating the beach. <br />Anderson said that staff is recommending that the contract be <br />extended for two more years. <br />Carlson asked if it is a mandated contract - could Ramsey <br />County drop our involvement at any time? <br />Anderson said it is not a mandated contract - they could drop <br />our involvement at any time. <br />Carlson feels we have more to gain by maintaining some control, <br />
