December 6, 1989 Park Board Minutes <br />C. <br />D. <br />3 <br />Anderson said yes, but we ~.re a7.so responsible for financing <br />the maintenance of the beach and the boat launch when we are <br />operating them. <br />Anderson said we could use the money (from not operating beach <br />and boat launch) to put toward the community center. <br />Anderson said we have set a tone for how the beach is operated. <br />Ramsey County will have a hard time changing it. <br />Carlson said he has heard some very good comments about the <br />beach and the boat launch - the friendliness at the boat launch <br />has been commented. <br />Anderson said it ran smoothly. <br />Seward commented on how helpful the boat launch person was. <br />Seward inquired about the income on the beach. <br />Anderson said he wasn't sure but we are taking about 550 of <br />expenses. <br />Seward asked if there had been vandalism. <br />Anderson said no - we have a night watchman/maintenance man on <br />duty. <br />Rose asked if the gate was closed at night. <br />Anderson said yes. <br />Carlson said the fees for the large group picnic area were <br />discussed. Some were complaining that the fee was too high but <br />generally those were the ones who had relatively small groups <br />and wanted to use the facility. <br />Carlson said Ken Johnson commented that the fee was set for <br />large group use. No action was taken. <br />Community Center Task Force <br />Ramsey County Task Force Plan for Parks <br />Anderson handed out the Ramsey County Plan for Parks. Ramsey <br />County and St. Paul have agreed to form independent boards and <br />then meet once a month jointly. No action is required on this. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Joint Powers Agreement Long Lake Regional Park <br />MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY CARLSON, TO CONTINUE THE LONG ,LAKE <br />REGIONAL PARK JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH RAMSEY COUNTY FOR TWO <br />MORE YEARS. MOTION CARRIED. <br />
