October 4, 1989 Park Board Minutes 5 Johnson said either. the Park Board joins the Task Force or some how meet together and then separate for their own decisions. Van Hatten suggested inviting the Task Force to be a part of the Park Board. Rose agreed. Carlson asked how the role of the Park Board would differ from the role of the Task Force. Johnson said the Park Board represents individuals in the community. The Task Force represents particular groups in the community. Anderson said he sees the Park Board as being more objective. The Task Force members usually represent a constituency. Carlson thought it would be good to meet together since our input would be similar. Carlson expressed some political concerns such as who would chair the meeting of the combined groups. Johnson stated that both groups recommendations would go to the Council. Van Hatten asked what groups were represented on the Task Force. Anderson and Johnson listed some: League of Women Voters, Hockey Association, Senior Citizens, St. Anthony/New Brighton School District, Mounds View and St. Anthony Community Education, New Brighton City Council Representatives (2), New Brighton Park Board, New Brighton Businesses, New Brighton Rotary, New Brighton Lions, Youth from Mounds View and St. Anthony schools. Van Hatten said the Park Board could invite the Task Force for an overview and review. Anderson asked Gunderman what his feeling are. Gunderman said by having Johnson as the chairman of the Task Force you already have a direct involvement. Ken has been involved and is as knowledgeable as any resident. Get nervous having two groups meeting at once. The meetings are all open, anyone who wants to attend can. Don't need to duplicate efforts. Van Hatten said that is why he suggests an invitation. to the Task Force.
